IN FOAL, INC.

IN FOAL, INC. is the division of Winners Circle Equine Clinic, Inc. that is involved with the application of new innovative procedures in equine reproduction.  We have built a state of the art laboratory equipped with an inverted microscope with micromanipulators in a clean room with air and dust control.  The outer room of the laboratory contains a laminar flow hood, CO2 incubators, dissecting microscope, autoclave as well as cabinet and counter space.  The palpation area has been enclosed and equipped for a surgical suite to perform oocyte transfer surgery.

Some of the advanced procedures we now perform include oocyte transfer, embryo culture, intracytoplasmic sperm injection in addition to embryo transfer. 

NEWS FLASH!!

 Our first oocyte transfer recipient mare has just been checked pregnant!!  After several unsuccessful attempts to recover an embryo, the client elected to try an oocyte transfer.  In this procedure, the oocyte (egg) is retrieved from the follicle on the mares ovary before she ovulates.  She is not bred.

 Then the same procedure us used to remove the egg from the follicle of a recipient mare.  She is bred.  Now we surgically open the recipient mares flank, pull out her ovary, and put the good egg into her oviduct.  The sperm are waiting, because we already bred her, and the egg is fertilized in her oviduct, she gets pregnant and has the foal.

 Only universities and a few private laboratories offer this service.  Thanks to the help of Dr. Elaine Carnivale, Dr. Ed Squires and the staff at Colorado State University,  we are now able to offer this service on the West Coast.
